A Cobden resident has won half a million dollars ($500,000) playing Instant Classic Extravaganza.
69-year-old Cynthia is a semi-retired garden centre worker and decided to buy a ticket package after she saw a customer do the same. She asked for a $50 Instant ticket and the clerk handed her the package.
She says she was going to ask for a different one, but a childhood lesson from her mother came to mind – be grate for what you are given and don’t be too choosy.
Cynthia took the tickets home, made a coffee and found out she won. She thought it was $50,000 at first.
She says she couldn’t wait to tell her husband and says he looked at her like she was crazy at first. Cynthia says they are still discussing their options, but no decisions for her winnings have been made. She says this will result in a lot of improvements in her life and there’s a lot of decisions to be made. She adds she’s still in awe.
The winning ticket was purchased at Mac’s on Raglan Street in Renfrew.
