The Compost Yard in Carleton Place reopened last Saturday, and starting tomorrow it will be open Wednesday evenings from 3 to 8PM.
The yard is located at 128 Patterson Crescent, and accepts the following items:
Branches less than 3 inches in diameter, leaves and grass clippings in paper bags – items in plastic bags will not be accepted; cardboard and scrap metal.
COVID-19 protocols apply: A limited number of vehicles will be permitted into the site at any given time, and staff will be providing traffic control at the gate.
Residents will need to be able to remove items from their vehicles by themselves- staff can only point out where you should put them.
Once you’ve deposited your items you will have to leave right away.
Note that the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Facility will remain closed until further notice.
Under no circumstances are residents to leave any HHW materials behind.
Staff are actively working towards solutions for the site and hope to open it back up in the near future.
It is likely that the season would be extended further into the fall to allow residents time to dispose of unwanted materials.
