Lowe’s Canada is investing $1 million to support Canadian associates and communities during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The donation includes:
- $241,000 to allow Lowes, RONA, Reno-Depot and Dick’s Lumber stores support initiatives to meet the specific needs of the community.
- A total of $228,000 will allow RONA dealers to support store associates and other community needs.
- Each Lowe’s Canada store will receive $1,000 to support associates by creating a food pantry, for a total cost of $241,000.
- The hardware retailer will also be donating $290,000 to the Children’s Miracle Network ($1,200 per store), on top of the $120,000 worth of building materials donated to build the Maison Enfant Soleil.
President of Lowe’s Canada Tony Hurst says with the initiatives announced today, they want to contribute to meeting other types of essential needs within local communities. This initiatives is in addition to the 36,000 boxes donated to Ontario Food banks and plastic rolls donated to health care workers.
Lowe’s Canada stores have reduced opening hours, limited the number of customers allowed in the store, increased cleaning and disinfecting (especially at high traffic areas), and other measures to ensure physical distancing including store layouts, distancing markers, protective plexiglass shields at all cash registered, overhead announcements reminding customers of safety measures and contactless curbside pick-up for online orders.
