It’s a 98-page document, and much of it is not good news.
The D.A. Gillies Building at the corner of John and Madawaska in Arnprior that’s now home to the Town’s Museum is in need of a little work.
The building opened its doors in 1896 as the community’s Post Office and Customs House.
It was saved from a planned demolition in 1963, and received a Heritage Designation in 1977.
Town Engineering Officer Gordon Gillespie says the structure is a gem in the community, and it’s priceless.
Since 2018 the architectural firm of Richard White and Robertson Martin have been looking at what’s required in the way of structural repairs, and what needs to be done to make the building accessible.
A companion report from the Pinchin Group was completed last month, along with a systems analysis from M&E Engineering.
The total price of repairs is estimated at over two million dollars.
