A great crowd braved the cold to attend Remembrance Day ceremonies in Arnprior.
Master-of-ceremonies, Branch 174 President Peter Walsh, is himself a veteran, having served with the Princess Pats in Victoria BC and 2 Commando in Edmonton.
Walsh says a concerted campaign by legions across the country and their supporters has seen attendance on the rise at the annual commemoration.
At the Arnprior service we heard a defence of hockey commentator Don Cherry in the benedictory prayer.
The pastor indicated his belief that the coach, in criticizing those who do not wear a poppy in tribute, was only challenging Canadians to continue to honour our veterans in coming years.
