Sunflowers are blooming and in Almonte you can go pick your own. Following a five minute walk you will come across a field filled with hundreds of bright yellow sunflowers.
With the leaves changing colours it makes for a perfect fall walk and is about a half hour drive from Arnprior.
The sunflower field is a short walk up the Springbank Trail in Almonte, next to the Ottawa Valley Rail Trail, off of Carss Street by the intersection at Union Street. The property owners have allowed others to come walk through the rows of tall sunflowers and even provided a pair of scissors if you want to cut your own and take some home.
A sign says pets are welcome, but asks that owners pick up after them.
