A former hockey referee in the Ottawa Valley who has been charged with attempted murder returns to court next week. The judicial pre-trial for William or “Bill” Kirby gets underway on Tuesday (September 3rd, 2019) at the Pembroke courthouse. Kirby is facing over 20 charges including attempted murder, kidnapping, sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm. The charges against Kirby stem from four separate victims dating back roughly 50-years. Back in September of 2018 Kirby was arrested after allegedly stabbing and leaving a victim in a wooded area in the Township of McNab/Braeside near White Lake. Kirby was 72-years old at the time he was arrested. A judicial pre-trial has been set for September 3rd at 2:00pm. Kirby remains out on bail. It’s expected the trail will take place in spring or summer of 2020.
