Dr James Naismith, the Almonte native who invented the game of Basketball, is to be inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame this fall.
Mississippi Mills Mayor Christa Lowry says the accolade is about time.
Canada’s Walk of Fame recognizes Canadians who have achieved excellence on both national and international stages.
Besides Naismith, other inductees in this year’s class are Triumph, Will Arnett, Jim Treliving, Mr. Dressup, Frank Gehry, Cindy Klassen and Mark Messier.
Canada’s Walk of Fame Awards Show will be held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre November 23rd, and shown on CTV.
