Flu season is upon us. Clinics are popping up around the county and health professionals say the best way to protect yourself is through vaccination. Darcy Greer, with the Renfrew County Health Unit, says beyond the shot, the most important line of defense is hand hygiene.
In addition she says to cough and sneeze into the crook of your elbow, or into a tissue. If you use a tissue, throw it out right away and wash your hands. If you're experiencing chills, fever, body aches and fatigue, you could have the flu. And Greer says if you think you're sick, stay home from work or keep your kids home from school. In the meantime, a list of clinics offering flu shots can be found on the health unit's website.
