RED CROSS ANNOUNCES MORE FUNDS FOR CALABOGIE RESIDENTS AMID PUBLIC BACKLASH
11/2/2018 6:12:50 AM
The Canadian Red Cross has announced more financial help to individuals and families affected by the tornadoes that hit the Calabogie and Ottawa areas in September. The move comes after the agency faced a backlash from some victims who said it's taken weeks to get emergency money. Households registered with the Red Cross will get 600-dollars for those with three people or less while those with four or more will get 800-dollars. The Red Cross has also set aside 300-thousand dollars to support community organizations with their relief and recovery efforts. In the meantime, Greater Madawaska Township says they're not aware of any financial relief provided or sought by those impacted by the tornado in Calabogie. We hope to hear from the Mayor later today.
