10/5/2018 9:14:13 AM
Lanark County has its act together regarding the Ottawa Valley Recreation Trail. An Official Opening occurs Friday in Carleton Place, at 1pm. The trail had earlier been surfaced from Arnprior to Pakenham, with final touches on the remaining portions to be finished by Friday. The OVRT will be gated in time for formal opening ceremonies, and three levels of signage completed. The markers include street signs, wayfinding signage and boards with posted Trail Rules. Still in the works, a Management Plan for Lanark County's portion of the OVRT (which in Renfrew County is referred to as the Algonquin Trail). Work on the bridges in Almonte is expected to be finished in November.
