CNL SUPPORTS INITIATIVE TO CLOSE THE GENDER GAP IN THE ENERGY INDUSTRY 7/10/2018 7:02:40 AM
Equal by 30. It's an initiative that seeks to close the gender gap in the energy sector by 2030 and CNL is adding their support. We spoke with Kathy McCarthy, Vice President of Research Development, and she says there are some discrepencies in the field of STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
A release from CNL says the energy sector is one of the most gender imbalanced industries in the world and that women only represent 35 percent of the clean energy workforce globally, 25 percent here in Canada. The local employer has pledged to take concrete action to accelerate women's participation in the industry through modest changes such as putting women on hiring boards and promoting women into leadership roles.
