DRIVER ACCUSED OF STUNT RACING, IMPAIRED DRIVING

A 65 year-old man is facing two very serious charges after a traffic stop on County Road 29 in Mississippi Mills. OPP say that in the early afternoon last Tuesday (May 8th), officers on patrol caught a glimpse of a car travelling north at excessive speed. When the police cruiser turned around and gave pursuit, they say the driver floored it to 149km/hr, before eventually pullng over. A Newcastle, Ontario man is charged with driving with over 80 miligrams of alcohol in his blood and stunt racing, a charge laid when a vehicle is caught travelling in excess of 50 km/hr over the speed limit. The suspect will appear in court in Perth at a later date.
