TOWN SAYS NEW RETIREMENT POLICY IS IN INTEREST OF PUBLIC SAFETY

The Town of Renfrew has issued a news release regarding the issue of post-age 60 work for municipal employees tasked with incident command duties.
The Municipality does not directly address the issue of threatened litigation from the Town's former Fire Chief, nor any of the conditions expressed by 61 year-old Guy Longtin's lawyer.
Renfrew maintains its basis for enacting the Age 60 mandatory retirement for responsible personnel is consistent with an Ontario Human Rights Tribunal ruling, and a Superior Court decision confirming the 60 year-threshold under Health and Safety.
The Town says its new policy is in the interest of public safety of residents.
