In preparation for what could be a high impact storm this weekend, the Town of Arnprior wants its residents to be prepared.

They've issued a checklist on how to prepare for a power outage.

The first thing is to have a non-electirc standby stone or heater installed, clean the flue of your woodburning stove if you have one and keep a good fuel supply on hand and check your appliances before you install an emergency generator to ensure they're compatible.

The town also encourages residents to prepare an emergency kit with water, non perishable food, a wind-up or battery-powered flashlight and radio, first aid kit, cash and blankets and warm clothing.

If someone in your home requires electrically powered life sustaining equipment, you'll need to register with your electric supply authority and teh Renfrew County Community Paramedic Program at 1-844-860-2778.
