MAJOR SPRING CONSTRUCTION PROJECT PLANNED FOR WILLIAM STREET
2/13/2018 1:42:25 PM

Spring is going to be busy for construction in Arnprior. Mayor David Reid says William Street is going to go under the knife.

The Mayor says Town Council has given pre-budget authorization to tender a two-year project to redo a street plagued with thirteen watermain breaks in the last decade. William will be redone from Division to Ida and from Ida to Edward over the 2018-19 time-frame, and a 1.8 million price tag will be split equally over the two construction seasons. Not quite one-third of the cost will be funded by development charges, as well as three-quarters of a million from reserve, and just over $500 000 to come from projected gas-tax reserves. Council wants to get the project out to tender now, so as to get the town the best price.
