Mississippi Mills Council has cut to the chase, and scaled back the Natural Heritage System components of the community's Official Plan to the bare minimum. Mayor Shaun McLaughlin tells Oldies 107.7 that a lengthy municipal meeting Tuesday tossed the elaborate original proposal in favour of the Provincial basic standard.

The changes are a nod to residents who had argued that Natural Heritage System overlays were not required at all within large swaths of the community. McLaguhlin says a series of four public meetings will be held to deal with specific aspects of the COP that residents may still have questions on. Two of those are planned for Almonte, with the other two meetings likely to be scheduled for Pakenham and Clayton.
