Police are looking into a suspected assault at Bonnechere Manor in Renfrew on New Year's Day.

According to a report from the OPP, a nurse discovered injuries on a resident shortly before 10:30 that night, that may have been the result of the actions of another resident in the home. The victim was taken to hospital by paramedics and the investigation continues with the assistance of the OPP Forensic Identification Services and the Renfrew County Crime Unit.

The Manor's Director of Long Term Care, Shelley Sheedy, says they're in the midst of delving deeper into the situation.

Due to the fact that an OPP investigation is still ongoing, Sheedy wasn't able to provide details about the alleged assault.
