McNab Braeside Mayor Tom Peckett says his township should see some huge benefits when Highway 17 is expanded to four lanes through the area. The province announced yesterday plans to start working on the design of the next phase of four laning from Scheel Drive to three kilometres west of Bruce Street in Renfrew. That's right through McNab Braeside and Peckett says the township may see a similar housing boom to what Arnprior experienced when the highway expansion reached that town. And that's not the only benefit he's expecting.
No timeline has been set for construction to begin, but the province says once construction funding is confirmed, the project will go into the five year plan portion of the Southern Highways Program.
