A canoe journey inspired by the Truth and Reconciliation process has docked in Arnprior. Kevin Kelly, co-organizer of the trek that is following historic trading routes from Midland to Montreal, tells Oldies 107.7 that thirty canoeists are working on the process of reconciliciation by sharing their individual perspectives, either from Indigenous or settler points-of-view.

Kelly says the group arrived in Arnprior Tuesday from Portage du Fort, and will make Ottawa-Gatineau today (Wednesday). Each stop is accompanied by welcoming events and Tuesday it was a blanket ceremony put on by the Christian group Kairos. Prior to departure this morning, participants will pay homage to blessed Kateri, an historic Native figure and candidate for sainthood. Their journey ends in Montreal August 15th. =-------------------------
