PROVINCE TO PROCEED WTIH FOUR LANING HWY 17 TO RENFREW 8/8/2017 4:34:48 PM
Big changes to Highway 17 are in the works. It was announced this afternoon that the province will be designing the next phase of the four laning of the highway from Scheel Drive all the way to Bruce Street in Renfrew. Renfrew County Warden Jennifer Murphy says that council has been pushing for four lanes all through the County.
Murphy says that she's not aware of a timeline for construction to actually begin. She says the letter received from Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca says that they're going to be working on the neccesary steps to work up to construction. The letter also says that once funding is confirmed, the ministry will put the expansion in their five-year plan portion of the Southern Highways Program.
