K & P TRAIL WILL BE GETTING SOME MUCH NEEDED TLC
7/12/2017 5:21:02 PM

K&P Trail in Greater Madawaska Township is not safe at the moment and council approved a motion that would see repairs begin as soon as possible with the assistance of Shaw Lumber Company. Council approved 20 000 dollars from road construction reserves for the work. According to a recent report, a section of the trail 20m in length has failed due to the extremely wet Spring we experienced. The Trail is used not only by the public to access their properties but by Hydro One and logging companies. Council was grateful for the offer from Shaw, but there was some concern. There's been some discussion of limiting vehicle size or changing the Trail to a no truck route and Councillor Brian Hunt was worried their hands would be tied if they accepted financial help from Shaw. Council wanted to be very clear that they accepted the assistance with no strings attached. Councillor Wayne Fraser pointed out that unless something unforeseen occurs, it will be status quo on the Trail. However, should it ever come to the point they limited the vehicles on the road, they would look at Tatty Hill Road as an alternative for access for Shaw and Hydro One.
