SIGN WILL MEMORIALIZE LATE BOB DAZE

McNab Braeside is considering a request to install a memorial sign in memory of Bob Daze. The 74 year old Daze was a retired educator and resident of Madison Heights in McNab Braeside when he passed away following a battle with cancer. He dedicated much of his time and energy to creating positive changes in his schools and in his community. The delegation that made the request has asked council to create and install the sign, while absorbing the costs. Councillor Mark Mackenzie was pleased to see an effort made by Daze's neighbours, friends and family. However, he was concerned with setting a precedent if they pay for the project and would like to see it paid for by fundraising by Madison Heights residents. Councillor Heather Lang pointed out they had created a by-law to deal with memorial signs and Deputy Mayor Brian Armsden directed the request to the Trails committee for their feedback. Should council grant the request, the sign would be installed at the entrance of the section of the railbed that runs behind the Daze home, Riley Crescent to Duncan Drive.
