COUNTY WARDEN DEMANDS APOLOGY FROM NORTH ALGONA WILBERFORCE MAYOR

Things got heated in North Algona Wilberforce council chambers last night (May 16). County Warden Jennifer Murphy appeared before council as a delegation asking Mayor Deborah Farr to retract a statement she allegedly made a few weeks ago and to publicly apologize. Murphy was speaking about a quote in the Eganville Leader made by Farr, saying that Murphy shouted at her from across County Council chambers about events at the library. Farr seemed to avoid retracting her statement and said she was sorry if Murphy was offended. Murphy wasn't satisfied, and told Farr if she wasn't going to retract her statement, she was going to take the issue further because the comments have hurt her reputation. Murphy said the event simply didn't happen. Before walking off to an ovation from the gallery, she asked the public if this is what every meeting is like. Farr asked Murphy back to the table where she finally retracted her statement and apologized, albeit not the way Murphy would have liked. The Warden left the building looking frustrated.
